Privacy Policy

The short version: we don't see what you capture, and we don't want to.

Last updated: April 25, 2026

Plain-English summary. ScreenMD captures pages and documents into Markdown on your machine. The captured content stays on your machine — it goes to your clipboard or your Downloads folder, and nowhere else.

We don't run analytics. We don't track what you capture. We don't have an account system. The only time ScreenMD talks to our server at all is if you bought a license, and even then we only see the license key and a device identifier — never capture content.

1. Who we are

ScreenMD is a product of Sensible Digits. You can reach us at hello@screenmd.app. The website at screenmd.app and the license API at api.screenmd.app are operated by us; the Chrome extension and Mac app are software you install and run locally on your own device.

2. What ScreenMD captures and where it goes

When you press a ScreenMD hotkey, the extension or Mac app reads the content of the focused webpage, document, or window and converts it to Markdown (or, for screenshot hotkeys, an image).

The result is written to one of two destinations, both of which live on your own machine:

Captured content is never sent to our servers. We do not see, store, log, or analyse what you capture. There is no cloud sync, no history, no shared library — captures exist only where you put them.

3. Network requests ScreenMD makes

ScreenMD is deliberately quiet on the network. Here is the complete list of outbound requests it can ever make:

RequestWhenWhat's sent
Reddit public JSON You capture a Reddit page (extension only) The Reddit URL you're viewing. Sent directly from your browser to Reddit; we never see it.
License activation (api.screenmd.app/v1/activate) You enter a paid license key, once per device License key, a device identifier, and a product label (e.g. "extension" or "mac"). Returns a signed token cached locally for 30 days.
License refresh (api.screenmd.app/v1/refresh) Periodically, while your local token is still valid The current token. No capture content.
License deactivation (api.screenmd.app/v1/deactivate) You explicitly remove a device slot License key and device identifier.

That's all of it. Free-tier users never contact our server at all.

4. What we store on our servers

If you purchase a license, our license server stores the minimum needed to enforce the device cap and honour refunds:

We do not store IP addresses or user agents beyond the standard, short-lived request logs that Cloudflare keeps for abuse prevention. We do not run product analytics on the license API.

5. What our payment processor sees

Purchases are processed by LemonSqueezy, who acts as the merchant of record. When you buy a license, LemonSqueezy collects and processes the information needed to take payment and remit applicable taxes — typically your name, email address, billing address, and payment details. We never see your full payment details (card number, etc.); we only receive the resulting license key, order id, and email from LemonSqueezy via webhook.

LemonSqueezy's privacy policy applies to that part of the transaction and is available at lemonsqueezy.com/privacy.

6. What we do not do

7. Cookies and the website

This marketing site (screenmd.app) does not set tracking cookies. The license API (api.screenmd.app) does not set cookies at all — it authenticates requests via the license key in the request body.

8. Children's privacy

ScreenMD is a productivity tool aimed at adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

9. International users

Our license server runs on Cloudflare's global edge network, with the underlying database in the United States. If you are in the EU, UK, or another jurisdiction with data-protection laws, the license-key, email, and device records described in section 4 are the only personal data we hold; you can exercise your access, correction, and deletion rights by emailing hello@screenmd.app.

10. Data retention and deletion

Free-tier users have no record on our servers, so there is nothing to delete.

For paid users: deleting your license deletes the associated device records. To delete your license entirely (license key, email, devices), email hello@screenmd.app from the address you bought with. Your purchase record itself is retained by LemonSqueezy for tax and accounting purposes per their policy.

11. Changes to this policy

If we materially change how ScreenMD handles data, we will update this page and the "last updated" date at the top. For changes that affect existing paid users, we will email license holders directly.

12. Contact

Questions, requests, or anything else: hello@screenmd.app.
